Results season litmus test for smallcaps amid high valuations

The upcoming March quarter earnings season is set to be a litmus test for smallcap companies as they will need to justify their premium valuations amid continued exuberance in their stock performances. After stellar 60% gains in FY24, the S&P BSE Smallcap index has continued its bull run in the first few trading sessions of FY25 notwithstanding the valuation worries.

The smallcap index has already risen over 6% in 4 trading sessions this fiscal year, more than recovering the 4.6% losses seen in March, which was its worst month in around 2 years. The correction in March followed the comments from Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (Sebi) chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch about the build-up of froth in the broader market.

The Rings Of Power To Finish Filming Season 2 During Strike Without Writers On Set – Report

When Hollywood writers went on strike this week, a number of shows already in production had to make some changes to their production pipelines. One affected show is Amazon Studios’ The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. According to Variety’s sources, production on Season 2–which is currently filming in the UK–will continue, albeit without anyone responsible for writing being on set.

This affects executive producers and showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, as well as any other writer-producers, Variety reported. These people are “barred” from taking part in any writing or making creative decisions on set for as long as the WGA strike continues, the report said.

Variety went on to report that non-writing executive producers on The Rings of Power, as well as directors and crew who do not have writing responsibilities, will now overseeing production.

According to court documents submitted by Pennsylvania State Police’s Bureau of Gaming Enforcement, Jason Richard Kutney, age 52, who was working at the casino Mohegan Pennsylvania as a table dealer for an electronic craps game, together with Louis Attilo Grasso, age 66, who was a frequent guest at the casino, conspired together, came up with the fraud scheme and executed it in collusion.

As the dealer for the game, Kutney had to press a button after a clock counted 30 seconds allowing patrons to place their wagers. When he pushed the button patrons could no longer place bets as the winning numbers were revealed.
